Each is a unique vessel named after the rugged Peninsula that inspired them. They are weighty in body and presence, made using hand forming techniques. In the building process, crevices are formed similar to the ones found in the rock formations and mountains that surround my studio and the base was inspired by the flora found in the hedgerows along the narrow winding roads. The inside of the piece is textured then treated with layers of Iron oxides before glazing (this glaze is not food safe and for decoration only) and the outside is embellished with engobes using many techniques of application and adhered with individualised mixtures of glazes to form their surfaces. In some cases local rocks have been crushed and used to produce the surface texture. Due to the handmade nature of this work the rims are not perfectly round and adds to the character of the piece.
This Bowl is not food safe but for decorative use only.
